Brooklyn, NY–In an unprecedented move of selflessness and bravery, Smith College alumna, Francesca Henderson, 27, checked in at Standing Rock Reservation today from her loft in Park Slope.

Ms. Henderson, who works from home, risked the alienation of other social media users when, in a brazen act of civil disobedience, she chose to side with protesters of the Dakota Access Pipeline. It’s a calculated risk she’s willing to take, she says, based on a “pretty good understanding” of one side of the story. “Any social or financial fallout is a small price to pay to follow in the footsteps of Gandhi and Mandela.”

According to sources close to Ms. Henderson, this behavior is part of a pattern of integrity and conviction. “Franny has always been a dedicated activist,” commented one associate under the condition of anonymity. “She doesn’t hesitate to put herself on the line for her beliefs.”

Asked whether she thought radicalism was ever appropriate, Ms. Henderson stated, “Obviously I do,” before tweeting the controversial hashtag: #noDAPL.
